Here is a listing of things you can do with your family for FREE!

  • Atlantic City Beaches – no beach fees (a rarity in NJ)
  • The Atlantic City Airshow ”Thunder Over the Boardwalk” blasts through the skies and is one of the most popular free things to do in New Jersey.
  • The AC Boardwalk is the perfect place to stroll anytime, or ride bicycles (6am – 10am)
  • The Atlantic City Free Public Library continues its popular tradition of bringing the AC Summer Concert Series to Gardner’s Basin. Shows on Saturday start at 1 p.m. and play until dusk. Schedule subject to change.
    • July 21 - War and the Chi-Lites headline; Rick Cason Express, Mark Big & Tasty Baxter, Jack and Judah Dorrington open the show.
    • August 4 - 2012 Gospel Fest featuring Curt Carr and The Curt Carr Singers
    • August 18 - Cameo and Enchantment headline; Coolist & Maceo Mobley, Special Occasion and Angela Burton and Passion open the show.
  • The Atlantic City Free Public Library’s Bartram Beach Block Concert Series brings free local music to Bartram Avenue and the Boardwalk on Fridays. All shows are free and begin at 7 pm.
    • July 20 -Denise Black and Triangular Swing – Step back in time with popular Big Band swing music
    • August 3 - Gina Roché – Brazilian, blues and original compositions performed with Jim Hamilton
    • August 17 - Tony DeLuca Trio – The “Minister of Music” specializes in jazz and Italian music
    • August 31 - Eddie Morgan Trio – Local legend perform funky contemporary jazz and standards
  • The Atlantic City Free Public Library’s International Night Series brings music and dance from around the globe to Kennedy Plaza on the Boardwalk this summer. All shows are free and begin at 7 pm.
    • July 18 - Dancing Crane; music and dance of the country Georgia, rivaling classic ballet
    • July 25 - Niyaz; contemporary Middle Eastern poets setting verse to music
    • Aug 1 - Magdaliz and her Latin Ensemble Crisol; Latin music ensemble interpreting folk and traditional music from Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico and parts of Latin America
    • Aug 8 - Everybody Loves Italian; celebrating generous personalities of Italians classically presented through song, dance and humorous stories
    • Aug 15 - The Barley Boys; contemporary, original and traditional Irish music
    • Aug 22 - Taiko Masala; visually stunning Japanese martial arts combined with complex drumming, all instruments handmade by the ensemble
    • Aug 29 - Korean Traditional Marching Band; featuring changgo, Korean hour-glass drumming, meditative and classical ensemble music of Korean nobility
    • Sept 5 - Hawaiian Luau Entertainment; relaxing Polynesian music gives way to sensational fire dancing
  • Chicken Bone Beach Concert Series – Free Jazz on the Beach Summer Concerts at Kennedy Plaza on the Boardwalk at Mississippi Ave. Thursday nights from 7pm – 10pm in July and August.
    • July 19 - Webb Thomas Superband headlines; Tony Perez (Ola Latina) opens
    • July 26 - Kim Thompson headlines; Gina Roche opens
    • Aug 2 - Orrin Evans headlines; Chicken Bone Beach Youth Jazz Ensemble opens
    • Aug 9 - Javon Jackson headlines; Tori Gee opens
    • Aug 16 - Bill Jacobs Ensemble headlines; Dwain Davis opens
    • Aug 23 - Taeko headlines; George A. Johnson Jr. opens

  • Crafters Village at Gardner’s Basin – stroll the docks in this historic back bay area, window shop at the unique craft shops, visit the AC Aquarium for a small fee. 
  • “Duality” Light Show at Boardwalk Hall, featuring 3D video technology, stunning animation and an original music score. Free. Every night, every 30 minutes starting at 9:30pm, Thursdays start at 10pm.
  • Farmers Market at Center City Park – July 5 through Sept 29, local farmers bring fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers and craft vendors offer their wares for sale.
  • I.FLY Trapeze School on the Boardwalk at Trump Taj Mahal will have free Xtreme Trampoline shows at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Sept 2. Free and open to the public.
  • Korean War Memorial honors the contribution made to help gain freedoms for both the U.S. and South Korea, and Civil Rights Garden symbolizing the passion of the human spirit.
  • Movies Under the Stars - Free movies at various locations on the beach on Sunday, Monday and Fridays. Bring your blanket, beach chairs and picnic baskets for family-friendly theatrical entertainment.
  • The Pier Shops (3rd Level) – Hit the Adirondack chairs on the fake sandy beaches on rainy days or when you want the best seat in the house for a sunset over Atlantic City.
  • The Water Show at the end of The Pier Shops, with dazzling illuminated water effects every hour on the hour, Boardwalk level at the ocean end of the building.
  • Wind Farm Tours - ACUA (Atlantic County Utilities Authority) offers free open house tours of the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm every Monday and Friday at 12 p.m. during the summer. No appointment necessary!
